We are getting closer to the end of this year, meaning that it's time to close the chapter on 2022 and open a new one.
I usually do a recap around my birthday in September. I like to go through what I have accomplished during the year as well as set up some new goals for the new one. Although it's not ADK's birthday, yet, I figured that I would do a recap of what 2022 has meant for us.
Let's start from the beginning.
In January All Day Kind didn't exist, at least not on paper. The vision existed. The why was clear - we wanted to create a community of kindness. A community that aligns with our values and where we can have an impact on you being kind, not only to people around you - but also to yourself. What we didn't have was the how. To be frank, we didn't quite have the what either. How did we want to do this? We wanted these kindly reminders be daily reminders, and that's where the idea to high quality, simplistic clothing with small powerful messages was born. What's something that everyone wears? Tees and sweaters - perfect!
So that's what we did.
We set a launch date and after that we had a couple of busy months - ensuring quality, finalizing designs, registering the business, designing the store and everything that comes with starting a business (shout out to Shopify).
On April 5th we opened the store and a couple of minutes after we launched we got the first order. Help! It was all the feels. Were we actually doing this? Were our customers going to love the products just as much as we did?
We soon got the answer to that. Our early customers seemed to love our products and throughout the year we have had multiple returning customers, which we believe is one of the best reviews you can get.
It has been the most exciting year, so far. I am saying so far because I truly feel that this is just the beginning and I cannot wait so see what the future has in store for All Day Kind. With hard work, and a little bit of good timing, everything is possible and that will forever be a motto I stand by.
Some of the milestones 2022:
- Exceeding our own expectations for sales, design, and just in general running a business
- Donating some of our profit to Canadian Cancer Society in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October
A few of the goals for 2023 are:
- Donating some of our profit to organizations that make a positive difference
- Expand to other markets (Sweden - we're coming for ya!)
- Grow the kindness community
Let's go and make 2023 the best one yet, so far.
